Inauguration of the academic year 2021

Quod felix, faustum fortuntumque sit - the words of the old Roman formula opened another year of study at our university. As Rector Bogumiła Kaniewska emphasized in her speech:

This year, the words of the thirteenth-century student song Let's rejoice (Gaudeamus igititur) sound exceptionally loud and literal. After all, we return to the classes, laboratories and libraries after a year and a half of pandemic exile.

The Rector also informed that earlier that day, she met with the Rectors of the remaining universities of Poznań. Together they had signed a letter of intent regarding the establishment of the Federal University of Poznań. During the ceremony professors Małgorzata Śliwińska-Bartkowiaki and Ignacy Lewandowski received Palmae Universitatis Studiorum Posnaniensis medals.  Professor Agnieszka Kryszczyńska graced the ceremony with a lecture entitled A brief history of gravitational waves.
