Administrative Questions

  • How do I apply for this program?

     You can find all the information as well here. 

    1. Creating an account

    The candidate creates an individual account in the Online Admissions System by providing the necessary personal data. Subsequent admission-related operations can only be made after logging in to the created account. The candidate is obliged to keep the password to access the account secret.

    1. Enrolling in the program

    The candidate chooses a program/major and type of study. 

    1. Paying the enrollment fee

    The candidate pays an admission procedure fee for the selected programs/majors. Failure to pay the fee for a given program means the candidate is not included in the selection procedure for this program. The enrollment fee is PLN 85.

    1. Attachment of documents obtained abroad

    The candidate with the documents obtained abroad attaches scans of these documents for their verification.

    1. Filling out the matura exam results

    The candidate enters information about the Matura certificate and provides the results of the Matura exam. 

    1. Uploading a photo

    The candidate uploads a high-resolution photo which will be used when generating the personal questionnaire. The photo of the admitted candidate will also be used in the student identification card.

    Notice: if you do not upload a photo, the system will not be able to generate the questionnaire!

    1. Taking the entrance examination

    The candidate will receive a message via the Online Admissions System about the date, place, and time of the entrance exam. Failure to take the exam means the candidate is not admitted to the program.

    1. Awaiting the final results of the selection procedure

    The results of the selection procedure will be provided via the Online Admissions System. Upon logging in the candidate will see their score and the score required for admission as well as information on being selected or not being selected for admission.

    1. Announcement of the final results of the selection procedure

    A candidate selected for admission is obliged to lodge all required document scans, by electronic means, within the specified time limit and upon doing so is expected to take up studies in the program. Failure to lodge the required documents within the specified time limit means the candidate opts out of taking up the studies.

    A candidate not selected for admission may lodge by electronic means, within the specified time limit, a declaration of willingness to take up studies. The declaration is submitted electronically via the Online Admissions System. A candidate who has maintained their willingness to take up studies may have their admission status changed. The candidate is obliged to monitor admission status on an ongoing basis.

    1. Final results of the selection procedure

    The results of the selection procedure will be provided via the Online Admissions System. 

  • What documents do I need to apply?

    Set of documents

    • photo file which will be used when generating the personal questionnaire
    • a scan of the Matura certificate (for Polish students)
    • a scan of the supplement to the Matura certificate - applies to candidates who have increased the the Matura exam score or have taken the Matura exam in additional subjects (for Polish students)
    • a scan of the IB diploma - applies to graduates of schools belonging to the International Baccalaureate Organization (IB)
    • a scan of statement by a statutory representative - applies to candidates under 18 i.e. people who as of October 1, 2025 are under 18 years old

    Preparation of the documents

    During the recruitment process, candidates do not submit any paper documents.

    Each of the required documents should be scanned to a separate file in PDF format. A document (e.g. certificate or diploma) that has more than one page should be scanned into one multi-page PDF file.

    Attestation of documents

    Document attestation is a process in which an employee of the University confirms the compliance of the attached scans of documents with their original (paper) version. Attestation of the document by AMU consists in submitting (for inspection) the original document at the Student Office at the Faculty at the beginning of the academic year.

    Documents obtained abroad
    Candidates with documents obtained abroad also provide:

    • a scan of a foreign document, which is legalized or accompanied by an apostille, entitling the candidate to take up higher education studies in the country where the document was issued
    • a scan of translation of the document into the language of the studies undertaken by the candidate, performed by a sworn translator entered into the list of sworn translators maintained by the Polish Minister of Justice, or certified by a Polish consul in the country where the document was issued
    • a certificate of recognition of a foreign certificate as equivalent to Polish Matura certificate issued by a competent Board of Education – if the foreign certificate is not recognized, by virtue of law or under international agreements, as a document entitling to commence higher education studies in Poland
    • a scan of a document confirming the entitlement to study tuition-free – in the case of the foreigners concerned
  • Recognition of Certificates

    Recognition of Certificates - foreign certificates that entitle you to take up studies in the country issuing the document which do not require any formal requirements because they are recognised ipso jure (by operation of law):

    1. Issued by a school or educational institution recognized by the state, operating on the territory or in the educational system of a member state of the European Union, a member state of the European Free Trade Agreement (EFTA)-European Economic Area, a member state of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

    This applies to baccalaureate certificates obtained in the following countries:

    Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Chile, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Liechtenstein, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, USA, United Kingdom.

    2. International Baccalaureate (IB) Diplomas and European Baccalaureate (EB) Diplomas

    3. Covered by international agreements

    If your certificate does not meet the above requirements you need to obtain an administrative decision issued by a competent educational officer („Kurator Oświaty”) which confirms your eligibility to apply to a university.  For more detailed information, please contact the Board of Education in Poznan.

  • What are the tuition fees?

    The semester tuition fee for each year of studies is: PLN 2 000,00 (the fee can be paid in 4 installments of PLN 500,00 each).

    The tuition fee for an academic year is PLN 4 000,00.

  • How do I apply for a student visa?

    As a general rule, you would need a visa to enter Poland. However, foreigners from a number of countries are exempted from a visa requirement when entering the Schengen Area for periods not exceeding 90 days within a 180-day period: One can check the list of the countries ie here: list

    Poland is a part of the Schengen Area, so you can apply for a Polish visa and travel all around Europe Union countries.

    5 easy steps to get a visa

    1) Find a Polish Consulate/ consular section of the Embassy that can process your application. 

    2) Read carefully ALL the information concerning visa application on the consulate’s website and follow ALL the instructions.

    3) Set a visa appointment with the consulate.

    4) Prepare the necessary documents, including the application form, travel document (passport), biometric photo, health insurance, sufficient means to support yourself, and documents confirming the purpose of your stay. The specifics of the required documentation may vary among consulates, so confirm them with the consulate’s website.

    5) Submit all the documents including a printed and signed application form and the visa fee. Your visa application is complete. 

    Early submission of visa documents is advisable as in some cases procedure may take a considerable amount of time.

    Application submission is open at the USOSweb system.

    1. Step 1: Log in to USOSweb AMU
    2. Step 2: Select the “Common Section” tab, and then “Applications”.
    3. Step 3: In the list of available applications, select “Housing application 2024/2025” and then “Start filling”.

  • Can I apply for scholarships as a full-time student?

    Financial aid benefits (need-based scholarships, special scholarships for students with disabilities, and one-time grants) are awarded by the Rector or the university scholarship board appointed by the Rector at the request of the Student Government Parliament.

    Students of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań can apply for social benefits (need-based scholarship, special scholarship for students with disabilities, and one-time grant). For more information, please refer to the Information for persons applying for financial aid.

    Under the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science  (English version here), Journal of Laws of 2018 item 1668, as amended, hereinafter referred to as ‘the Act’, students of all study modes may apply for financial aid, which includes:

    1. a need-based scholarship,
    2. a one-time grant,
    3. accommodation in a Student Dormitory.

    Additionally, you can apply for:

    1. Rector's Scholarship for best students

    Schedule: 

    • October 1, 2024 (noon) - start submitting applications in the USOSweb system,
    • October 17, 2024 (11:59 p.m.) - end of submitting applications in the USOSweb system,
    • October 1 - November 4, 2024 - correction of applications by students whose applications were withdrawn for correction,
    • October 1 - November 13, 2024 - verification and acceptance of applications,
    • before November 19, 2024 - launch of the scholarship algorithm,
    • November 18-19, 2024 - announcement of the results of the procedure,
    • November 18-22, 2024 - submission by students qualified for a scholarship in more than one field (university) of declarations of choice of the field (university) where the scholarship is to be paid,
    • by December 4, 2024 - ordering transfers for October, November and December,
      by the 15th day of the month - ordering transfers in the following months (January-June).

    Documents confirming having health insurance:

    • Insurance agreement with the National Health Fund (NFZ)

    Provide the original of the insurance agreement for inspection, along with current confirmation of payment of monthly contributions (from the day of the conclusion of the agreement until the day you receive your decision for residence permit).

    Contributions for each calendar month are paid by the 15th day of the next month for the previous month.

    • Foreign insurance policy

    Health insurance policies concluded in languages other than Polish should be translated into Polish by a sworn translator. The originals of both  - the health insurance agreement and the certified translation should be presented for inspection.

    • Private insurance policy

    Such insurance policy must cover the costs of medical care in Poland (medical assistance and hospital care). Accident insurance does not constitute proof of insurance covering the costs of medical treatment in Poland. Note that the policy must be valid on the day the decision on granting a residence permit is issued.

  • How do I integrate into student life?

    Join Student Organisations and Clubs

    • Science Club SKN Trivium et Quadrivium aims to expand knowledge in the field of the Liberal Arts and Sciences program. You can follow their social media and contact them to join them! Facebook and Instagram.
    • ESN UAM Poznań often organizes events for international students, even if you're not on Erasmus. This is a great way to meet others going through similar experiences. You can follow their social media to be up with the events! Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp group.

    Joining sports teams - at our University you can find many sports places like a swimming pool, tennis courts, and gym. You can also join AZS UAM University Club where you can join classes on different levels in such disciplines as futsal, fencing, football, volleyball, swimming, aerobics, disciplines for students with disabilities, alpine skiing, and snowboarding, rowing, judo, squash, karate, yoga, powerlifting, mountain biking, basketball, and many more!   • How do I get around the campuses?

    Adam Mickiewicz University has 3 big campuses:

    In the northern part of the city, the Morasko Campus is located, where new faculty buildings can be found. It's the place where most of your classes will take part. Currently, it houses:

    • Faculty of Physics and Astronomy,
    • Faculty of Biology,
    • Faculty of Geographical and Geological Sciences,
    • Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science,
    • Faculty of Political Science and Journalism,
    • Faculty of Chemistry,
    • Faculty of History,
    • Faculty of Archaeology,
    • Faculty of Human Geography and Planning.

    The City Center Campus consists of Adam Mickiewicz University buildings located in and around the center of Poznań, in various locations. The City Center Campus includes:

  • Can I study abroad during the Liberal Arts and Science program?

    In addition to the Erasmus+ exchange, you can also apply for Summer Schools from the EPICUR Alliance. EPICUR summer programs offer you an easily accessible international experience that is simple to combine with your schedule and an enriching experience. Courses run usually between April and September, either as block courses (full-time courses running over one or more weeks) or as regular, semester-long courses (running over several weeks).

  • Mental Health

    Our University has a Development and Psychological Support Clinic where you can come in case of difficult times in your life. The Clinic offers short-term psychological and therapeutic assistance for students, doctoral candidates, and employees of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań.This support is available to individuals experiencing difficulties in various areas of functioning, including:

    • difficulties in relationships with others,
    • difficulties in understanding, experiencing, and expressing emotions,
    • difficulties adapting to the academic environment, finding one’s place in a group,
    • difficulties related to symptoms expressed through behavior, as well as anxiety and fears,
    • difficulties in setting goals and coping with new situations.

    Consultations at the Clinic are free of charge but require a prior appointment.

    Paula Siwik psych MA will receive your call, and provide you with all the details regarding psychological support. ​The AMU Psychological Development and Support Center is located in the building of the "Hanka" student house at Aleja Niepodległości 26., psychologist will meet you there.

    Counseling sessions are kept strictly confidential and will not be disclosed to any third persons or University staff.

    ​​​​​​​Important note: in case you want to cancel or reschedule, please inform us at least 24h in advance. By doing so, you will allow other students to benefit from available openings.

  • Collegium Historicum

    The Faculty of History at Adam Mickiewicz University was established on October 1, 2019, based on the Institute of History, which has been operating since 1956, and the Institute of Eastern Studies, which has been in existence since 1991. It is located at Morasko Campus. The new faculty comprises 19 academic units (a chair, 11 departments, and 7 research laboratories).
